- Your device and Android version.
- The app version, from Settings.
- What you were doing, what you expected, and what happened instead.
- For anything radio-related: your TNC model and how it's connected.
There's also a Discord server if you'd rather ask in the open, or just follow along as the app keeps getting built.
Common questions
Can I try it now?
Yes — it's on Google Play for Android: install APRS Connect. There's no iOS build yet; put your address on the notify list and you'll hear when there is one. The status page says exactly where things stand.
Do I need an amateur radio licence?
To transmit, yes — APRS runs on amateur radio spectrum, and transmitting on it requires a licence in essentially every country. You can receive and follow along without one.
Does it work without a connection?
Yes. The app keeps its data on your device, so messages, packet history, and cached map tiles are all readable with no network at all — useful, given APRS is often used exactly where there is none.

Which radios and TNCs work?
Anything that speaks KISS over Bluetooth Classic, or KISS over TCP (a Direwolf setup, for example), plus APRS-IS over the network if you'd rather not use RF at all. A tested-hardware list will land here as devices are actually verified, rather than guessed at.
